372 – Fire And Ice

If you're unfamiliar with the poem being quoted, here it is. And if all you've heard is the most quoted first part, you might think it ironic that a guy named Frost would "favor fire." But it's not the whole thing:

Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

The meaning has been debated by English classes ever since. Uncle Chuck meanwhile just admits to having turned it towards more practical applications... Welcome back, everybody, to a new Season of Zombie Ranch!

  1. Never change, Uncle Chuck; and keep quoting Robert Frost. Maybe next time you can use “The Road Not Taken”. ?

  2. Off topic- at one time you were very interested in the pulse Nightclub shooting, if I recall.
Well, the trial of the shooter’s widow is over and the facts differ even more from those initially reported than we thought. Though the shooter was an Islamist, he didn’t attack the nightclub to kill gays (he apparently asked repeatedly where the women were) and his creepy porno habits ran to … elderly women. The clickbait style of reporting was less transparent than your media villains’, here.

  3. Hm, don’t remember us really bringing it up here. Maybe some other site?
