UPDATING OCCASIONALLY (FOR NOW)

23 – Day In The Death (END OF EPISODE 1)

So this concludes the first part of Zombie Ranch and so begins the process of fixing up the pages so that they are ready for print. Hopefully all goes smoothly. Hope you guys have been having fun with the comic so far. We really do love hearing from you guys and I really do listen to your suggestions. Some suggestions I'm able to do immediately, others might take a while. But if you've had fun reading Zombie Ranch and want to help promote the comic, vote for us on Top Web Comics! You can vote once per day, which might seem like ballot stuffing but it's all nice and legal. And now it's time to start St. Patrick's Day properly. The writer says that we'll be taking a break to get the next portion of the comic ready and get the comic out to print. But the real truth is that I'll need that much time to sober up after this wonderful Irish holiday. Hopefully I don't do some drunk live chat on something like our Ustream channel.

  1. Geez that’s depressing. :'( I liked Zeke.

    Aside though, I love how you can see Suzie just barely not crying in this one, when she seemed so hardened in the last page.

  2. Poor dumb kid. I do think I’d be upset at not having my last wishes respected, but then again, like she said, he won’t care once he’s gone.

    Anyway, looking forward to the first print issue! I also might be seeing you guys at the con in Pasadena in May; I’m going to discuss it with my friends because I don’t really want to go by myself. Hopefully I’ll be there!

  3. It’s life on the farm. And only someone who is heartless wouldn’t be affected somehow when a coworker/friend is about to die…or in this case be turned into a zombie.

    And feel free to stop and say hi Hamato. I’ll happily shake the hand of the person with an awesome avatar like yours. 😛

  4. Brutal ,Gritty , Real stuff. I like it!!

  5. One question I have is, how legal is this, exactly?

    Think about it a moment, the ranch had HIRED him, but by rights they don’t specifically own him. Plus, his last wishes were rather audibly and publicly made known on what is supposed to be a national television situation.

    It seems to me that his body is self-owned, unless he specifically signed some kind of paperwork that indicates the farm owns his body in the event of it being zombified. So killing him to make him a zombie and then claiming the zombie as livestock hits me a lot like those legal issues of keeping someone alive against their orders in a hospital, and claiming his body sounds a lot like just plain old theft.

    I’m guessing really curious where this is headed, though. The author might have already thought of all this.

  6. I was just mentioning to Dawn the other day how it often seems like I’m “responding” to comments with comics that are published soon after, when actually it’s just the coincidence of getting elements of the world that have been around for months in my notes finally out to the public.

    So yes, I’ve thought of it, and yes, the next few weeks will be another of those times 🙂 I’m always glad to hear questions like this, though, since it shows people found the subject worthy of some brain time.

  7. ;____;

    i hate when he cries out miss suzie, breaks my heart
