88 – Ridin’ Out

I love drawing creepy-cute things. Though drawing animals has never been my strong area and I always need reference photos or need to delve into my "How to draw Animals" book that I got as a kid (also an animal anatomy book I bought not that long ago). But seriously, how can you look at those little guys nibbling at that rattlesnake and not find them adorable? Well I find them adorable, anyhow... I remember the days where we would kill rattlesnakes in the backyard and save their rattlers. One day I made a necklace out of one of them...this didn't help me in getting any dates with guys. A lot of things I did were strange, now that I think of it. But not strange enough to want to make a Squirrel Beer Cozy: http://www.artofdawn.com/blog/weird-find-squirrel-cozy/

  1. Oh hell yeah! A chick with a necklace of rattlesnake rattles? I would’ve gone out with you! Gotta dig a gal who isn’t afraid to take on a rattlesnake or 3.

The prairie dogs looked great I thought. Felt sorry for the snake though. So, obviously this virus (or whatever) affects mammals, what about the snake? Do these guys have to fight off infected snakes & lizards?

  2. Ya, nothing like going rattlesnake hunting in the backyard. Then skinning the snake and putting it up somewhere to attract roadrunners to spook off future rattlesnakes. I was such a farm girl nerd. 😛

  3. Zombie Perry Dog? lol

A character in The Zombie Hunters made a bad joke about how he was glad there where no zombie squirrels. Truly, this world would be his greatest nightmare.

  4. @BarnOwl – I suppose it’s technically a minor spoiler since we haven’t brought it up explicitly in the comic, but zombification seems to be a mammal thing. That poor rattler was hale and hearty until it ran afoul of a hungry mob of flesh-eatin’ prairie dogs.

  5. Splint boots on her horse now…gonna do some jumping?

  6. Oh … and I voted mostly sci-fi which is how I generally classify (in my mind) most post-apocalyptic type stories.

@SteelRaven – I’d forgotten the crack about zombie squirrels in TZH. I recall laughing about that.

  7. I love how only weeks after I mention seeing them go out on a hunt we get to see them “rollin’ out” I picture the song riders in the storm as they ride off into the wastes.

  8. AWESOME i love this comic and undead hourses 🙂
