34 – The Unkindest Cut

It's going to be one busy summer. Have to prepare some artwork for Dragon Con, San Diego Comic Con.

  1. Okay, now this is intriguing…I like this development with Zeke.

  2. Firstly, i love Zeke’s head on the last panel, probably the best face portrayal in the comic.
Second, either this is the start of a big storyline, which tells us that greenies have feelings too, or (and i assume this is rather true) a well placed plot-trap for us, freans (thats short for fan-freaks :P) to thinks that this is the start of a big storyline, which tells us…
Please Clint, be it the second! You’ve proven (for me) too much of a good writer to tell us a story that’s already been told.

Dang, did i just ruin your well-built plotline? Nah, just ignore me, it’s okay if this is the start of a big storyline…

  3. Pff, first you start giving zombies feelings, then next they’re wanting the vote!

I suppose all I can really say (aside from thanks for the compliment on my writing!) is that I love making you all speculate. Also, even though I believe there are no truly “new” stories, I don’t like treading well worn paths unless it’s with a purpose.

That’s enough non-answer for now. I think I may have missed my calling as a politician 😉

  4. Hmmm, I don’t know if it’s a mislead exactly, but I do think the creators are embracing the cliche just to pull the rug out from under us later. Although, I have to admit, I was getting a bit of a Fido vibe from this page, which would be fun for a comic like this, I think.

  5. I would be telling a damn lie if I said Fido was no inspiration for Zombie Ranch. I probably ought to review it one of these days. But then again, at its heart I believe Fido is as much about suburbia as about zombies, and the Z Ranch ain’t suburbia, no matter how many flamingos Chuck scavenges.

On another note, ever since the latest WordPress upgrade my avatar for these comment sections isn’t showing up for me, even though I can see yours. Are you guys seeing it from your end, or is the image missing?

  6. No avatar, just a broken image link in it’s place. =/

  7. Hm. Unpleasing. I think I might have an idea to get it working again, but not until later tonight.

EDIT: And my mad plan worked! Hurrah!

  8. I don’t think it’d be too strange if zombies have residual memories, and the only reason people haven’t noticed could be that all the people who usually stay close to zombies without being turned into zombies don’t share those memories, so they wouldn’t be able to tell the reason for why some zombies might have quirks. Particularly on the ranch you’d expect none of the zombies there to have any pre-zombie memories of being herded like cattle, so they might all behave similarly to the situation. Except for Zeke, of course, who would have lots of memories of working there. But Zeke, your brain does not work there any more.
